Saint-Vaast Cathedral and Abbey:

Saint-Vaast Abbey and the cathedral together form the largest 18th-century monastic complex in France. Founded in the 7th century, the abbey played a key role in the birth of the medieval town of Arras.

The impressive scale of the present-day buildings reflects the major economic, spiritual, artistic and cultural influence the abbey exercised throughout the centuries.

Built in a neoclassical style, the cathedral houses remarkable treasures, including statues of saints from the Panthéon, reliquaries and several Art Deco decorative features.

Today, the abbey is home to the Museum of Fine Arts as well as a contemporary media library, which continues the legacy of the renowned Saint-Vaast library.
