L'Etre Lieu-Arts Contemporains

L'Être Lieu - Contemporary Arts

Founded in 2012, L'Être Lieu is an association that combines education, artistic creation and the promotion of contemporary art within the Gambetta-Carnot school campus in Arras.

Artists in residence work in an 800-square-metre studio housed in a former industrial workshop converted into an exhibition space. The venue encourages artistic experimentation and dialogue between artists, students and visitors.

Students from the preparatory classes for the French Grandes Écoles, specialising in visual arts, are directly involved in the residency programme. They follow the creative process and contribute to exhibition mediation, helping to introduce contemporary art to a wide audience.

The association also organises publications, talks, lectures, debates and screenings linked to the work of the resident artists, encouraging greater awareness of contemporary artistic practices.

Since 2013, L'Être Lieu has partnered with the Arras Fine Arts Museum on artist residencies and joint exhibitions. This collaboration promotes artistic experimentation while giving students an active role in public engagement activities.
