Bullecourt Museum

The Jean and Denise Letaille Museum in Bullecourt is dedicated to the history of the battles fought in this sector during the First World War. Located on the former front line, it tells the story of the thousands of soldiers who fought in the Arras area in 1917.

Throughout their lives, local farmers Jean and Denise Letaille assembled an extensive collection of objects discovered in their fields and around the village.

Weapons, ammunition, uniforms and personal belongings from Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom bear witness to the intensity of the fighting that took place in this area. These collections recall the battles in which thousands of Australian and British soldiers were killed or wounded.

Displayed within the museum, these artefacts provide insight into one of the most significant and deadly episodes of the First World War.

From mid-February to March and from October to mid-December, individual visitors are welcome on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays* from 1.30pm to 5.30pm, while groups are welcome from Tuesday to Sunday*, from 1.30pm to 6pm, by prior booking; from April to September, individual visitors are welcome on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 6pm, as well as on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1.30pm to 6pm, while groups are welcome by prior booking from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 6pm; from mid-December to mid-February, the site is closed to individual visitors.
